NSW police is continuing a search operation to find a missing man who went for swimming in Figure Eight Pools.

According to the police, emergency services were alerted at 2pm on Monday after two men were swept away into the water. One of them was able to climb back to rock with minor injuries. He was treated by NSW ambulance paramedics.

However, another man disappeared underwater and did not resurface.

Both men are believed to be Nepalese students in their 20s.  According to the reports, three people were with the pair at the time of incident, but they were not injured.

The search operation is conducted by Wollongong police district, the Marine Area Command, surf Life Saving, NSW ambulance and Westpac Lifesaver helicopter.

There has been increased number of casualties of Nepalese while swimming in Australian water this summer, with the recent one being the death of Nepalese student in Bents Basin in late January.
