Rukum (West):Thulibheri River swept away six houses of Mankabagar in Aathbiskot Municipality-6. The six houses were swept away as the river took its course towards the residential area.
The river swept away the houses of Kali Bahadur Bohara, Bir Bahadur Bohara, Gorkha Bahadur Bohara, Jun Bahadur Bohara, Deepak Bohara, and Nandaram Bohara.
Prior to this, houses of Patre Bohara, Bhim Bahadur Bohara, and Bishnu Kumari Buda located in Mankabagar were also swept away. Along with this, in this monsoon, the river took away nine houses with itself.
Seeing the risk of flood, the police and the local people vacated the houses, avoiding potential loss of human lives.
Ward chair Dil Bahadur Sarki stated the step prevented loss of lives as well as wealth. He also claimed that more than a dozen houses were at the risk of flood.
Vacating those houses, the villagers have been shifted to an upper village. The ones who have lost their possessions as well as some loved ones are taking shelter in their relatives’ homes.
Some villagers who have their farms in the upper village are staying there for the time being as stated by the Ward chair. Since the river level as well as its flow has increased, the potential risk has increased as well.
The debris produced during the construction of the Jajarkot-Dolpa road construction has fallen into the water causing the river to divert towards the residential area.
