Fire in Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris

A fire that started at around 6 on Monday evening has destroyed the 12th century Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Parisians watched in horror as the fire collapsed the spire and a large part of the roof of the cathedral.

According to police the fire began accidentally and has been linked to the restoration work that was undertaking. Investigation has been opened already by the prosecutor’s office.

French president, Emmanuel Macron, has vowed that the cathedral would be rebuilt. He further stated that the cathedral’s bell towers and structure of the building have been saved.

There were no casualties in the incident.
