Sridevi’s death coverage being called the death of ‘Indian Media’ due to lack of sensitivity, unnecessary sensationalism and complete oblivion of sympathy.

With the new twist in Sridevi’s death case revealed by the forensics report, Indian media just could not control themselves. Except for a few, everyone pursued TRP with content that were completely void of any empathy towards her and her family.

TV journalists were seen entering bathtubs, placing an animated Sridevi inside a bathtub, showing videos of Sridevi drinking in various movies. Aajtak even went ahead and wrote “Maut ka bathtub”, “the bathtub of death”.

Indian media is being severely criticised for their complete lack of empathy, decency, and poor journalism. However, this is not the first time Indian media is facing a backlash. In 2015, just after the earthquake, Indian journalists who were in Nepal to cover the earthquake were slammed for their insensitivity. A #GoHomeIndianMedia was trending during the earthquake.
