Festival of colour, Holi Festival back in Adelaide

Adelaide prepares to celebrate Holi festival with food, music and dance on 17th March 2019. Organised by Adelaide Nepal, the festival promises to entertain a huge crowd with a massive line up of popular artists in Mitchell Park Reserve with no entry charge.

The first edition of the event was a huge success last year; therefore, it has returned for the second edition this year with added enthusiasm.

The outdoor event will witness the performances from local dancers and singers along with Nepalese international artists which includes popular singer and judge of The Voice of Nepal, Pramod Kharel, singer Astha Raut, actress Keki Adhikari, comedian Dinesh Kafle and rapper Sudin Pokhrel aka DA-69.

The organiser has planned the festival to be toxic and chemical free and environment friendly. Safe colour and t shirts would be available in the event with reasonable price. The Holi Festival Adelaide welcomes all the communities and backgrounds to the event to experience the Nepalese culture.

Holi is a Hindu festival described as festival of colours. It represents happiness and victory over evil. It is predominantly celebrated in Nepal and India, spreading in other parts of world with the existence of diaspora.

The actual Holi festival also known as ‘Fagu Purnima’ is celebrated for two days in Nepal which falls on 20th and 21st March 2019. The first day of Holi is celebrated in the hilly part of the country while the second day is celebrated in Terai region.
