Every two years Adelaide celebrates Nepal Festival with an intention to promote Nepal and Nepali culture. This year Nepal Festival Adelaide will take place on 14th April 2019 in Light’s Square.
Nepal Festival which is observed in most of the big cities of Australia, this time it is set on the Nepali New Year’s Day i.e. 1st Baishak, 2076 . South Australia’s NRNA President, Ashok KC, said, “We want Nepali New Year to be celebrated with much more enthusiasm and, second generation should know about the Nepali festivals, identity and culture. Therefore, we chose this date for the event.”
He adds, “This day holds the identity of Nepal, also we get to promote Visit Nepal 2020 through our attire, music, authentic cuisines which represents our arts and culture. This event will bring Nepali together, also the locals will get to know more about us.”
The festival will begin with a Parade from Rundle Mall to Light Square, where the organisers are asking the event goers to wear traditional attire. The free event will be hosting popular Nepali singers and artists like Karna Das, Benisha Hamal, Jiwan Sharma and Badri Pangeni. The organisers have expressed their gratitude over huge amount of EOIs from local artists being submitted to participate and perform in the festival.
