As part of National Road Safety Week, Australian landmarks are being illuminated in yellow from 6-12 May. The initiative is to shine light on the road safety and to highlight the impact of road trauma and ways to reduce it.

During the week, national and state icons will turn yellow and emergency vehicles, fleet trucks, cars, motorbikes and bicycles will display yellow ribbons.

The National Road Safety week is an annual initiative organised by Safer Australian Roads and SARAH Group along with road safety organisations and Australian Government. According to a data, annually more than 1200 people die in road accidents and over 35,000 people get seriously injured on Australian roads. Road accidents are the second biggest killer of Australians aged between 15 and 24.
