The Victorian Nepalese Community Covid-19 Taskforce will be hosting two online sessions to help their community remain informed and safe during the Covid-19 pandemic in Australia.
Aimed at helping Nepalis in Victoria remain connected with the community, and informing members about Covid-19, its health impacts, changes in regulations, and other benefits available to them, the Taskforce will be hosting the sessions on Friday and Sunday respectively.

Victoria, which has been battling a second wave of Covid-19 infections has also reported a surge in active cases within members of the Nepali community. The taskforce, which comprises of several members of the community, has been actively supporting those who have been diagnosed with Covid-19, and are in need of support.
Support packages mostly comprise of emergency relief packages such as food and cash relief.
According to Babin Mishra, a member of the Taskforce and Youth Coordinator at NRNA Victoria, the “information session on Zoom is being organised to help members of the community connect with others, and to clarify several things which might be confusing them. For example, there are several government and organisational support available – the informative session will educate members about such benefits, and also answer queries on eligibility criteria, and how to access them”.
The information session is being organised with the support of several community organisations including NRNA, Australasian Nepalese Medical and Dental Association (ANMDA), Office of the Consulate General of Nepal to Victoria, Nepalese Association of Victoria (NAV), and Australian Education Consultants Alliance (AECA).
As of 7th August, 2020, 146 people who had listed Nepal as their country of birth had been diagnosed with Covid-19, a number, which according to Mishra has flattened over the past week.
