A gunman has opened fired in Darwin CBD, causing four confirmed deaths and several others injured on Tuesday evening just before 6 pm local time. A man has been arrested in relation to the shooting, says Northern Territory police.
Police received reports of shooting in the city area. The gunman went on run from police moving to inner suburbs after the incident with reports of several gun shots. The Caucasian man, aged 45, was arrested almost after an hour in the local Stuart Park. Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported that the man was recently released from prison.
According Duty Superintendent Lee Morgan, no other gunman is involved, and they are investigating at least five crime scenes which includes Palm Motel in the CBD.
