Himalayan United Football Club unveils new jersey in Canberra


The Nepali community of Canberra is growing – and with it, so does multicultural Australia. The growth in the Nepali community adds various multicultural elements to the Australian Capital Territory which includes festival observations, new cuisine, and other sporting and recreatiional activities.

Similarly, a group of Nepali youth in Canberra have formed a new football team – the Himalayan United Football Club. Members of the club and its stakeholders participated in a jersey unveiling/distribution program and a community BBQ on Sunday, 11th October, 2020 at the Yarralumla Park.

Mr. David Smith, Member of the Australian Parliament attended the program’s as its chief guest. He congratulated the football club and wished the team the best in their future. Similarly, Nirmal Prasad Bhattarai, Second Secretary to the Nepalese Embassy in Canberra was also present in the program.

The football team’s platinum sponsor is Himalayan Business Group, and also has the support of A J Complete Solution, J P International College, Chomolungma Nepali Cuisine.

Along with the jersey distribution, the club has also decided upon its working committee:
