Indian leader sacked from New Zealand’s Justice of Peace for Islamophobic social media posts


Kantilal Bhagabhai Patel, a well-known Indian leader in New Zealand, has been sacked from the membership of the Wellington Justice of Peace Association over his Islamophobic social media posts.

According to Ann Clark, Vice-President of the Association, Patel was sacked after the Association investigated a complaint received against Patel and his posts.

This news comes at a time when several Indian expats are facing action for their Islamophobic remarks in Arab and European nations.

The Association has referred the matter to its national body and has asked it to consult with the Ministry of Justice in connection with his posts.

Patel, was awarded the Queen Service Medal (QSM) in 2004 and Pride of India Award in 2005 and he is a former General Secretary of Auckland Indian Association and past Assistant Secretary of the Wellington Indian Association.
