Melbourne’s 14 day rolling Covid-19 average below 30

Victoria reported 15 new cases of Covid-19 overnight on Wednesday. On a highly positive note, Wednesday’s number brought Melbourne’s 14 day rolling Covid-19 average to (9th Sep-22nd Sep) to 29.4, its lowest since the onset of the second wave of infections July onward.

Premier Daniel Andrews said the numbers were strong, but warned Victorians of complacency, reminding Victorians that the threat of the virus isn’t completely over.

Melbourne required to post a 14 day rolling average between 30-50 by Sunday (27th Sept, 2020) before restrictions were to be eased in the metropolitan area. It is well on track towards it.

There are currently 554 active cases of COVID-19 in Victoria, and sadly five lives were lost in the last 24 hours leading to Wednesday.

All deaths were linked to aged-care facilities.
