Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs,
Hon. Alex Hawke has extended Diwali greetings to the community. In a message shared by the
minister’s office, the minister has greeted everyone observing the festivities, and has noted the
festival’s theme of triumph of light over dark – citing Australia’s success in vaccinating its people
as a step towards triumph over Covid-19.
He has also shared that many families will be united over the weeks as Australia begins to open its border –
especially its recent announcement to allow parents of Australian citizens and residents home.
