Melbourne, Australia – There is a shortage of medicines in Australia. Hundreds of drugs are in short supply in Australia amid supply chain issues and rising demand.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration says 343 types of medicines are in short supply in Australia. Dozens of medicines were added to the list on Thursday. Medicines in short supply include anti-depressants, high blood pressure, diabetes and asthma medicines. Drug shortages occur when there is a chance that there will not be enough medicine for people who need it in Australia.

There are usually alternative brands, strengths or dosage forms of the same drug available and their use is recommended.
