Nepalese international student Sujan Ghimire has died in a tragic motorcycle accident in Cherrybrook, Sydney’s northwest.
Just before 11pm on Friday 4th August, emergency services were called to the intersection of New Line Road and Purchase Road, Cherrybrook, after reports a Honda motorcycle and Nissan Navara had collided.
The driver of Nissan Navara, a 20-year-old man, was uninjured and taken to Hornsby Hospital for mandatory testing. He was arrested and taken to Castle Hill Police Station before being released pending further investigation.
Officers attached to The Hills Police Area Command and Traffic and Highway Patrol established a crime scene which has been examined by specialist officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.
An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the crash and a report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
Sujan was originally from Sindhuli, Nepal and came to Australia last August.
A crowdfunding has begun to repatriate the deceased body back to Nepal.
