Nepali dies due to drowning in Brisbane, Australia

A Nepali national has died after he drowned in a sea located in Stradbroke Island near Brisbane in Queensland of Australia on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Nikit Shrestha, a permanent resident of Pokhara, Nepal.

On Wednesday afternoon, Shrestha was swept away by a wave while he was swimming. His friends had informed the lifeguards after Shrestha was swept away.

Lifeguards found his body floating some 200 meters away from the shore after five minutes since he went missing.

According to NRNA Queensland Vice-president Umesh Khadka, it will take between eight to 10 days to send Shrestha’s body to Nepal.

NRNA Queensland has also informed Shrestha’s family in Nepal, Australian authorities concerned and his university about the incident.
