Melbourne, Victoria:

A 20 year old Nepali youth, Aakash Gamal has been found dead in Victoria’s Bendigo. He is believed to have committed suicide by hanging on Wednesday morning. Aakash had arrived in Australia in 2016, and had lived in Melbourne for 2 years before moving to Bendigo for better work prospects. He was studying cookery.

On Wednesday morning around 2 a.m., Aakash’s brother Santosh Gamal noticed the lights in Aakash’s room was still on. He tried to open the door but the door was locked, after which Santosh, with the help of others broke open the door.

After witnessing the scene in the room, they called the police. According to sources, Aakash was believed to be in a relationship with a woman in Nepal since the past 4 years. Chat evidences show problems in the relationship right up till the moment Aakash committed suicide. Aakash’s family has accused the woman of economic exploitation and mental harassment, and is considering filing a case against her.

Aakash’s body has been sent for post-mortem, and will be repatriated to Nepal for the final rites once released. NRNA Victoria is helping Aakash’s family, and has organised a fundraiser for his body’s repatriation.
