Nepalis in Australia observe Nepal’s 5th National Constitution Day

On Saturday, 19th of September, 2020, Nepal observed its fifth National Constitution Day. The celebrations, owing to the pandemic, may have been scaled down in sizes, however, in spirit, were tantamount to previous years.

Millions of Nepalis celebrated the historic promulgation of Nepal’s Constitution, and thanked everyone who had made Nepal’s historic passage to a Federal, Democratic, Republic of Nepal.

The celebrations also crossed national boundaries – for example, Nepalis in Australia, one of the nation’s fastest growing community too observed the national day of importance.

Embassy of Nepal in Canberra organised a small program within its own team members to observe the day.

Nepal’s Ambassador to Australia H.E. Mahesh Raj Dahal, standing in front of Nepal’s national flag, shared a few kind words on the importance of the day, and reflected on the contributions of the Nepali community in Australia.

Similarly, Consul Generals of the Consulate Offices of Nepal to Victoria and NSW also extended their best wishes to the land, and the people of Nepal.

Similarly, Hon. Peter Khalil, Labor Member for Wills in the Australian House of Representatives also extended his best wishes to the people of Nepal in Australia, and in Nepal on the occasion of Nepal’s fifth national day.

In his message, the Hon. MP also shared the importance of the Nepalese Australian Community in Australia, thanked the community for its contribution while reminding Nepalis across the globe to stay safe amidst the pandemic.
