“A whole lot of outdoor activities are on the table”, Premier Daniel Andrews.

Victoria, on Sunday recorded 12 new cases of Covid-19, bringing its 14-day rolling average to 9.3. Victoria’s new cases have been hovering around ten new cases daily since October 5 which has made it difficult for the state to achieve a 14-day rolling average of new cases below five by Oct, 19.

Most of the new cases are connected to three clusters – Kilmore, Chadstone, and Box Hill, and Victorian Health Authorities are working towards containing the cluster.

Meanwhile, Premier Andrews on Sunday teased Melburnians that they could look forward to some greater freedom from October 19 onward. He suggested that “while a reaching the third step is unlikely, Melburnians will be allowed to move ‘more freely”.

“A whole lot of outdoor activities are on the table”, he said without divulging any key details.

The trigger points for the third step in Melbourne are:

  1. 14-day case average of five cases or lower, and
  2. A total maximum number of five “mystery” cases over a fortnight.

Currently Victoria’s 14-day rolling average is 9.3 cases and the number of cases in Melbourne with an unknown source in the two weeks to October 8 sits at 10.
