Victoria reports 217 new cases of Covid-19, Australia’s total at 11,441

Victoria records 217 new cases, two dead

 Victoria announced 217 new cases of coronavirus in the state, taking the state’s total number of cases to 5353. 2608 of those are currently acrive. Two more people have died from coronavirus, taking Victoria’s total death toll to 34. They are a man and a woman, and were both in their 80s.

Premier Daniel Andrews also told reporters that 28,104 tests were conducted yesterday. 

“So our testing rate per hundred thousand is getting quite closed to 20,000 tests per 100,000, which is quite an amazing effort and we are deeply grateful to every single Victorian has come forward over this long journey to get tested”, Premier Andrews said.

Australia’s total cases rise to 11,441

Acting Chief Medical Officer, Paul Kelly, has announced Australia’s total number of COVID-19 infections have risen to 11,441.  

This is an increase of 233 from yesterday, 217 of those are in Victoria.  There are now 118 deaths in Australia.
