Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has said Queensland could open its borders to Victoria if low number of cases continue. The announcement came on the day Victoria posted a seventh consecutive day of zero new cases – Premier Palaszczuk said the numbers were “very encouraging”.

The Premier said her state would be watching Victoria closely in coming weeks before making a definite announcement towards reopening the border. She also said that she was unconcerned about NSW opening to Victoria from 24th November.

“They’re [Victoria] coming out of lockdown, they’re not moving around freely like we are in Queensland, they’re not at that stage so one step at a time”, she said adding that ‘keeping Queenslanders safe is her priority”.

Earlier this week Queensland opened its borders to regional NSW, but it remains closed to Greater Sydney and Victoria.
