Her Excellency Lucky Sherpa, Nepali Ambassador to Australia on Tuesday will present her credential letter to the Governor-General of New Zealand. The practiced norm is that the Ambassador to Australia serves as a non-resident ambassador to New Zealand as well.
New Zealand’s NRN Association on Saturday had organized a welcome program and dinner in her honour. Ambassador Sherpa has said that there were no shortcomings in her welcome and she was genuinely pleased with the hosts. She expressed her views towards transferring skills and development knowledge back to Nepal, thus enhancing development. H.E Sherpa also honoured June Hillary, sister of Sir Edmund Hillary, who is an enthusiastic Nepal lover.
NRN Deputy Coordinator, Loknath Poudel stated NRN’s commitment towards advancing the plans of the Embassy. According to NRN Spokesperson Bishnu Regmi stated that NRN Ex President Baburaja Maharjan, ICC member Rewat Basnet, New Zealand Nepalese Association’s treasurer Mukunda Dev Adhikari, Shri Bhakta Siwahang, President of Nepalese Culture Centre Kamal Prasad Shrestha, believed that New Zealand and Nepal’s relation could be improved within H.E Sherpa’s tenure.
Speaking at the program, New Zealand Nepal Society and New Zealand Chamber of Commerce’s President Dinesh Khadka said that a Nepal Festival would be organised next year to promote Nepali art, culture, cuisine, and music. He also requested the Embassy’s help and active participation in making the vision a reality. He also said that skill development could be channeled through the Chamber of Commerce to Nepal.
H.E Sherpa was welcomed by Women Forum New Zealand’s coordinator Dilu Rimal and Secretary Renu Karki. The note of thanks was given by NRN New Zealand’s acting President Ghanshyam Sapkota. A few words were also spoken by Peter Gibbs, trustee of Nepalese Association Bay of Plenty.
