It has been 50 years since Thai first touched down in Kathmandu Airport. 50 years ago, on December 4, 1968, Thai Airways became the first passenger jet service connecting Nepal to the rest of the world. Initially starting with one flight a week Thai Airwas today serves one flight daily at 1:55 p.m. since October 1997.

The airlines boasts introducing computerised reservation system in Nepal in February, 1985.

50 years in Nepal has been glorious for Thai apart from a single event – the Thai Airway 311 crash on 31st July, 1992 near Langtang. Deemed as a communication error between the air traffic controller and the pilot, there were no survivors in the accident.

Apart from this, Thai Airways probably is the most consistent airline to serve Nepal. Thai Airways is celebrating its golden jubilee throughout 2018 with various co-partners to organise promotional activities.
