Prakash: Story of youth’s struggle to become teacher


Trailer of Dinesh Raut’s Prakash was made public amid a programme in the capital on Tuesday.

The story of Prakash is set in Jumla of Karnali Province. Actor Pradeep Khadka, the main character of the film, has portrayed the struggle of a man to become a government teacher in the film.

Actress Deeya Maskey has played the character of a woman who waits for her husband who had disappeared during the conflict and helps to fulfil her son’s dream to become a government teacher.

Actress Renu Yogi is Pradeep’s lover in the film. Speaking at a press conference held in Kathmandu on Tuesday, director Raut said that the film is not only about Jumla but also about Nepal as a whole.

Actor Khadka referred to the film Prakash as his rebirth. He said that he did various roles of a ‘hero’ in other films but this film would make him a true artiste. Khadka said that if the content of film is strong and good, audience will definitely like it.

Actress Maskey said that Prakash is the most difficult project of her career so far. She is playing the role of Sita in the film. A damsel, Sita is not aware of her own dream and immerses her whole life to fulfil her husband and son’s dream, Maskey added.

Renu Yogi, who made her debut with this film, said that becoming an silver screen actress was her childhood dream, which is realised. She is a theatre artiste.

The film written by Bikas Subedi and produced by Mahendra Adhikari will be released on August 26.

Prakash Ghimire, Rajan Khatiwada, Amjad Prawej, Dev Kumar Shrestha, Hum BC, Niraj Panthi and others have also acted in the film.

Preparations are underway to release the film simultaneously in more than half of countries, informed the film unit.

Produced under the banner of Binish Entertainment, the film was shot by Rajesh Shrestha and edited by Jeevan Thapa.
