Raj Kundra’s Bail Plea Rejected By Bombay High Court, Sent To 14 Days Of Judicial Custody

Raj Kundra’s police custody ended today and he had applied for bail in the Bombay High Court. However, his bail plea has been rejected and Raj has been sent to 14 days of judicial custody. Raj, who is married to Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, was arrested on July 19 in connection to a case about the alleged production and distribution of pornographic content.

On July 23, the Mumbai Crime Branch had raided Raj Kundra’s Viaan Industries office in Andheri, Mumbai and found a hidden cupboard, which contained several documents about financial transactions and cryptocurrency.

Raj and Shilpa Shetty’s Juhu bungalow was also raided by the cops. The actress has also been questioned by the police and police sources have revealed that Shilpa denied her involvement in the company, claiming she was not aware of the exact content of HotShots. She also mentioned that erotica is different from porn, for which her husband has been accused of, and he is not involved in producing porn content.

According to the latest developments in this controversial case, ANI reported that Raj was was anticipating his arrest after the Mumbai Police took nine people into custody in connection with the creation and distribution of pornography. Hence, he had readied a ‘Plan B’ to avoid investigation and had also changed his phone in March so that data from his mobile could not be recovered.

The Mumbai Police have also seized Raj Kundra’s laptop and a SAN (Storage Area Network) box. Officials told TOI, “We accessed 48 TB data. Huge data was deleted once our case was filed on instructions from Raj Kundra. Also, after Kundra’s arrest, more data was deleted.”

Apart from the Mumbai Crime Branch probing Raj Kundra’s role in the adult content creation case, the Enforcement Directorate is also likely to join the investigation. They will be probing a money-laundering angle as the cops have found suspicious financial transactions between Raj and the South African bank account of Mercury International company (online betting and casino gaming).
