After the completion of the construction of the Karpukhola micro hydroelectric project in Tanjakot Rural Municipality, electricity generation has started.
The consumers were able to consume electricity after the construction of the project was completed in time.
Leela Rai, the site in-charge of the Kandhuri organisation, which has the support of the British Army for the project, said that after the completion of the 112 KW capacity project, electricity supply has started in the households of the consumers.
Rai said that even though the project has a capacity to generate 100 killowatts of electricity, power is being generated beyond the capacity.
Now the locals are freed from the previous obligation to use oil lamps for light.
Around 902 households of the rural municipality-3, 4 and 5 wards have benefited from the project. Rai said that the Kandhuri organisation invested Rs. 84.4 million for the project and locals contributed labour worth Rs. 25.5 million.
Around 18 workers, including in-charge Rai, worked day and night to complete the project. It took 256 days to complete the project.
Local Jayarudra Dhakal said the project has made it easier for the rural municipality to work.The consumers will be able to do all the work using electricity for lights to using electronic devices.
