117 Nepalis succumb to Covid-19 across globe, total 12,821 infected


A total 117 Nepalis across the world have succumbed to coronavirus infection as of Saturday evening.

According to the Non-Resident Nepalese Association (NRNA), 21 Nepali nationals lost their lives in the past one week alone.

Nine in UAE, five in Saudi Arabia, two each in the UK and Nepal and one each in the USA, Qatar and Kuwait have died so far.

NRNA Health Committee’s data show that 65 Non-Resident Nepalis, the highest number, have died in the UK due to Covid-19 infection so far.

Similarly, 18 Nepalis died in the United Arab Emirates, 16 in USA, seven in Saudi Arabia, three in Nepal and one each in Qatar, Ireland, Japan, Turkey, Netherlands, Bahrain, Sweden, Kuwait as of Saturday evening.

Among them, 95 were males and 19 were females.

Likewise, 12,821 Nepalis across the world have been infected by coronavirus so far. Of them, 72 percent are those living in various countries in the Middle East, 13 in the North America Region, 10 in Europe, and five others in Asia.

Australia accounts for less than 1 percent and no case of Covid-19 infection has been reported in the African countries yet.

Meanwhile, over 4,000 Nepalis have recovered from the infection so far.
