19th ‘Crow Gathering’ to be held at Ratna Park

The first day of Yamapanchak or Tihar festival is observed as Crow Tihar, usually feeding crows while recognizing their important role in the life of humans.
To mark the day, the 19th ‘Crow gathering’ will be held at Shantibatika, Ratna Park, Kathmandu this year. The 19th gathering of crows is going to be held tomorrow from 6 to 7 am at Shantibatika in Ratnapark at the initiative of Green City Hospital, Basundhara.
On the occasion, Ramesh Dulal a resident of Ilam, who replicates the sounds of 173 animals and birds, will gather crows in one place to hold the gathering conference. Dulal said that around 400 crows will be gathered together on the occasion.
Dulal has been holding such crow gathering on the occasion of Kaag Tihar for the past 18 years. This year too he is going to celebrate Kaag Tihar by inviting crows to one place. “You have to understand the language of the crow and talk to it, when you want to call a crow, you have to ask for help and the crow will come to you”, he said.
It is believed that if crows are fed on the day of Kaag Tihar, it will bring good news to the person and the family. Since ancient times crows are also regarded to work as messengers. (RSS)
