Two incidents of child rape have been reported in Parsa and Sunsari in the last two days.

In Parsa, a 10-year-old girl from Paterwasugauli Rural Municipality-5 was raped near her home on Tuesday. The girl is being treated at a Birgunj hospital.

Doctors said the girl had suffered from severe genital tear that required surgery.

She has been left traumatised by the incident, the girl’s father said.

Police have rounded some suspects for questioning after the girl’s father claimed that his daughter was raped by a fish farm worker. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rajan Limbu has vowed to bring the guilty to justice.

Similarly, a 65-year-old man has been accused of raping a seven-year-old girl in Dharan, Sunsari, on Wednesday.

The suspect was arrested after the incident only to be freed after his family pleaded to police to release him, because he was suffering from grave illness and needed medical attention.

DSP Rameshwor Paudel said the suspect has been charged and he cannot escape the law.
