33 office chairs to be penalised for not adhering to RTI

The National Information Commission is taking action against 33 office chairs who did not provide information, adhering to the Right to Information Act, 2009.

According to Section 32 of the Act, the Commission is taking action against the head of the office who did not give information, gave partial information and did not adhere to the act at all.

As per Information Commissioner Ratnaprasad Mainali, the office chairs working in various departments of Tribhuvan University are the most likely to be prosecuted.

The Commission imposed the fine following a complaint filed by Rajeev Das of Rautahat Malohiya-5. Das had requested an attested copy of the information about the number of years required to complete the study of medicine and the arrangements from the Examination Control Office Balkhu.

Another complaint was filed by Ekamul Haque of Rajpur Municipality-1 after he was denied the request to get a certificate of the number of citizens under quarantine in the municipality during the Covid-19 crisis and the cost of the blankets per person purchased.
