47 climbers reach base camp for Kanchenjunga expedition


As many as 47 climbers have reached the base camp on the way to scale the Kanchenjunga Mountain.

This is so far the first time this year when such a huge number of climbers have reached the base camp. The climbers reached the Kanchenjunga base camp through southern and northern trekking routes.

Tourism Assistant of Kanchanjunga Conservation Area Management Council Tapethok check post, Kalpana Tammaden informed that 36 mountaineers have reached the base camp through the southern trekking route.

She shared that those reaching the base camp include five from India, one from the US, three from Germany, two from Romania, three from Australia, three from the Netherlands and two from Canada.

Some climbers who had already reached the base camp last week are making preparation for the Kanchanjunga expedition, she shared.

Likewise, six Romanians and five British nationals reached the base camp through the northern trekking route, shared tourism assistant of Yamfudin check post-Surya Man Rai.

As many as 67 climbers have taken permission for Kanchenjunga mountaineering. The trend of climbers coming to the base camp is on the rise.

Tourist mobility has gradually increased in the Kanchenjunga area, said hotel entrepreneur of Faktanglung rural municipality-6, Ghumsa, Pema Sherpa. This time a large number of expedition teams are coming to the base camp for mountaineering”, he added.
