The government has taken initiatives to provide land ownership certificate to half a million landless people.
Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Shashi Shrestha said so while responding to queries over her ministry during the deliberations on the Appropriation Bill 2079 BS in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives.
She said that National Land Commission and its district level committees were working for distributing land and its ownership certificate to 500 thousand landless people of 300 local levels within a year.
She added that some 24,000 people have got the land ownership certificate since she assumed the office of the ministry.
Minister Shrestha made it clear that the government will provide land ownership certificate to all the 1400 thousand landless people within next two years.
