Nepal has fully vaccinated 69.4 per cent of its population against COVID-19 so far. According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), of the total population, 22,995,709 people have received their first dose of the vaccine while 20,267,818 have received their full dose as of Tuesday.
In total, 136,996 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. They were vaccinated with AstraZeneca, Vero Cell, Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
As per the data of the MoHP, more than 46 million doses of the vaccines have been safely administered in Nepal till date, achieving 78.8 per cent first dose coverage. Meanwhile, according to our Rupandehi Correspondent, more than 100 per cent of the targeted population were vaccinated in the district.
According to Bhesharaj Sharma, Vaccination Officer at the District Health Office (DHO), Rupandehi, 102 per cent of the target group has been vaccinated with the first dose and 105 per cent, or 842,000 people, have been fully vaccinated.
There were 835,790 people in the target group of over 12 years of age in Rupandehi. Those as well as the security personnel and other migrants to the district were also vaccinated.
According to the DHO, 300,000 people have already received their booster dose in the district.
Of the 13 districts in Nepal where the number of vaccinated people is less than 70 per cent, only one district of Lumbini province has been included in the list. Although the overall number of vaccinated people across the nation is satisfactory, only 68 per cent has been fully vaccinated in Banke.
According to our Nepalgunj Correspondent, more than 95 per cent children in the age group of 5 to 11 years have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Banke district.
According to Naresh Shrestha, Vaccination Focal Person at the District Health Office, Banke, 95.5 per cent children aged 5-12 years have been vaccinated in all the eight municipalities of Banke within five days of the vaccination drive.
According to Shrestha, the district has aimed to vaccinate 76,239 people in the age group of 5 to 12 years in the district. He said that 72,788 children were vaccinated in the five-day vaccination campaign.
According to him, 100 per cent of the target groups was vaccinated in Kohalpur and Baijnath Municipalities.
Meanwhile, the nation has seen a slight rise in the daily caseload of COVID-19 for the last few days.
The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) recorded 44 new cases of COVID-19 today and 41 cases were recorded on Monday, 29 on Sunday, 27 on Saturday and 43 on Friday.
Of the 44 cases detected on Tuesday, 38 were detected through PCR tests and six through antigen tests.
The nationwide COVID-19 tally through PCR method reached 979,607 and that through antigen tests reached 140,443.
Of the total 2,798 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, 1,852 were Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests while 946 were antigen tests, informed the MoHP.
The active caseload increased to 229 on Tuesday. The figure was 163 last week. All the active cases are in home isolation.
Meanwhile, 17 COVID-19 patients recovered from the infection during that period. Nepal has now recorded 967,426 cases of recovery.
