96 Nepalis succumbed to COVID-19 worldwide; more than seven thousand infected

According to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), 96 Nepalis have died worldwide due to the spread of coronavirus COVID-19. are as of Saturday (May 16, 2020) evening.

As per the NRNA Health Committee figures, 63 Nepali nationals died in UK – the highest number of death due to coronavirus infection. Similarly, the number of Nepalis who lost their lives to coronavirus in the United States has reached 15.

Similarly, 9 people died in United Arab Emirates (UAE), 2 in Saudi Arabia, 1 each in Ireland, Japan, Turkey, Netherlands, Bahrain, Sweden and Nepal due to current pandemic coronavirus.

Committee Coordinator, Dr. Sanjeev Sapkota, informed that among the one who are dead – 77 were male and 19 were female.

The health committee has said that 18 more people died due to the corona virus in this week alone. The deaths that occurred this week was 12 in the UK, three in the UAE, two in Saudi Arabia and one in Nepal.

According to Dr Sapkota, apart from Nepal, 6,781 non-resident Nepalis around the world have been infected with coronavirus among which more than 35 percent have recovered.
