A month after the electricity supply was disrupted, the electricity service has resumed in Simkot.
With the help of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), the diesel generator was transported by helicopter and power supply was resumed three days after the generator reached Simkot.
Sajan Aidi, chief of the Electricity Distribution Centre, Hildum, said that the electricity supply has been resumed after 33 days of disruption since Saturday morning.
The test production from the generator was done successfully on Friday.
He said that according to the alternative arrangement, the diesel generator reached the district and started operation and the electricity supply was resumed.
He said that for the time being two generators are being operated to produce 180 kilowatts electricity. The electricity is being supplied to Simkot Rural Municipality-5, 6 and the market area.
Around 100 kilowatts electricity is being generated from one generator and 80 kilowatts from another one.
For some time, the Centre will supply electricity for four hours by operating the generator only from 12 noon to 2 PM in the day and from 6 pm to 8 pm in the evening.
While operating the generator for four hours, the Centre will have to spend 200 litres of fuel. The Authority also supplied 2,000 liters of fuel for the generator by a helicopter.
As per the district rate of fuel, the price of diesel is Rs. 400 per litre and the fuel currently with the Centre will be enough to run the generator for ten days. In the market, the price of diesel is up to Rs. 600 per litre. Although it will be expensive to generate electricity from diesel generators, the Centre will charge the same price per unit as before, said Aidi.
After the landslide caused damage to the canal of the hydropower project, power supply from the Hildum Small Hydropower Project had been stopped since the evening of October 3, this year.
