All the amount of 4 million doses of Vero Cell vaccine purchased from China on the GtoG basis has arrived in Nepal with the Nepal Airlines Corporation’s widebody plane A 330 landing in Kathmandu carrying some 800 thousand does of the COVID-19 vaccine from Beijing today.
Today’s was the fifth air cargo used to bring the 4 million doses by the aircraft.
Dipu Gwarchan, NAC operation chief and senior pilot, informed that the NAC plane carrying the vaccine from Beijing landed in Kathmandu.
With this, 5.8 million doses of Vero Cell, COVID-19 vaccine developed and manufactured by Sinopharm, have entered Nepal. Of this, 4 million is purchased and 1.8 million provided as grant assistance, out of 2 million pledged, by China.
According to the statics of the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 9.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been brought to Nepal till date. The MoHP records show Nepal received 5.8 million doses from China, 1.1 million doses of Covishield vaccine provided by India as grant assistance that includes 1 lakh doses given to Nepali Army by Indian Army, 1 million (out of 2 million doses paid for) doses of Covishield bought from India, 1.53 million of Johnson and Johnson’s vaccine provided by the USA under COVAX and 348 thousand doses of Covishield under COVAX.
The government has been running vaccination drives intermittently across the country.
