The second meeting of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) executive committee has been put off without tabling any agendas on Thursday. It is understood that the newly elected ANFA President Pankaj Nembang called off the meeting following the demands from the majority of members to correct the decision of the first Ex-Co meeting.
The first meeting of ANFA had appointed Kiran Rai as General Secretary, Nabin Pandey as International Relations Head and Rabin Joshi as Treasurer.
The majority of the central committee members were dissatisfied after decisions were taken without following the ANFA Statute.
Out of 19 elected Ex-Co members, 12 demanded to rectify the decision by sacking Nepali-origin German citizen Nabin Pande at the meeting. After President Nembang requested to sign the attendance record book, Senior Vice-President Bir Bahadur Khadka led the signature campaign demanding to mend the wrong decisions. “It is against the statute to elect or nominate foreign citizen in ANFA,” stated the letter signed by those 12 central committee members.
Along with Khadka, Vice-presidents Birat Jung Shahi and Deepak Khatiwada, members Mahendra Chhetri, Bikash Narayan Shrestha, Purushottam Thapa, Bhoj Raj Shahi, Rabindra Chand, Anil Malla Thakuri, Sarila Shrestha, Bharat Budh Thapa and Tika Lama supported the signature campaign.
The full ANFA Ex-Co consists of 21 members. Of 21, 19 members are already elected. The remaining two members will be elected from the election in the next general assembly.
Today’s meeting was set to discuss the agendas on Women’s Saff Championship, Nepal Super League, recruiting CEO, Joint Secretary General, Spokesperson and other issues.
Member Maniraj Bista was sworn in before the start of the meeting. Election Committee coordinator Shreeram Dawadi administered the oath of office and secrecy to Bista.
