APF constable arrested on murder charge of Baitadi female Myadi police


Police have arrested a constable of the Armed Police Force (APF) on the charge of murdering 21-year-old Maya Luhar from Baitadi, who was selected as Myadi Police during election.

According to Inspector Lok Raj Joshi, spokesperson for Baitadi Police Office, APF constable Bharatram Koli was arrested from a bus park in Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur on Sunday morning.

22-year-old Koli worked as an Armed Police Force constable at the Riot Training Management Academy in Pokhara.

Police was searching Koli since Thursday on suspicion of murdering Maya and gravely injuring her niece, Neha.

Maya Luhar, who was selected as Myadi Police during elections, had returned to her hometown after completion of House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly election.

On Tuesday morning, Maya and 15-year-old Neha Luhar, had gone to the market to get their clothes stitched. As they didn’t return till late night, the family went to the police. The local police, on Wednesday evening, found Maya dead and her throat was slit.

“Further investigation into the case will be done after bringing the accused to Baitadi,” said Joshi.
