An art exhibition of eight Nepali artists began at the Kala Srot Art Gallery in Aliganj, Lucknow, India, on Tuesday
Inaugurating the exhibition titled ‘Mountain Shadow’, renowned Indian artist Prof. Jai Krishan Agrawal said that Nepal-India relations are linked by art and culture.
He expressed the view that Nepali art has a socio-cultural theme along with the original tradition.
Agrawal said that the artefacts in the exhibition would help identify the cultural identity and nature of Nepal.
The exhibition was coordinated by artist Keshav Raj Khanal from Nepal.
Khanal said that the relationship between Nepal and India was linked by art and artists. He said that it was the first time that a collective art exhibition of Nepali artists was being organised in India after the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. He said, “We hope this art exhibition will help revive Nepal’s tourism, which has slowed down after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The exhibition features about four dozen works of art by Nepali artists Keshav Raj Khanal, Devendra Thumkeli, Krishna Gopal Shrestha, Chandra Shyam Dangol, Rabindra Manandhar, Ravi Mishra, Manoj Tamang Yonjan and Rick Gurung.
Indian artist Amit Kumar, who coordinated the exhibition for India, said that the exhibition has succeeded in bringing Nepali and Indian artists closer.
Stressing the need for strengthening cultural ties between Nepal and India through art, he said that art workshops and debates should be held between the artists of the two countries in the coming days.
Manushi Didwania, director of Kala Srot Art Gallery, said that the relationship between the two nations was enhanced by the artwork that reflects Nepal’s natural beauty and culture.
She said that the Indian artists can learn a lot about scenery and tradition from the art of Nepali artists.”
The art exhibition will continue till Sunday.
