At least 11 people have been confirmed to be killed in a bus accident occurred on Friday morning at Badahere Chowk of Bhotsipa in Indrawati rural municipality-10, Sindhupalchok, said the police. Seven people died on the spot whereas the rest lost their lives en route to the hospitals for treatments.
The death toll is expected to rise. Over 50 people have been injured in the accident. Injured people are being airlifted to the capital for further treatments.
The ill-fated bus (Ba 2 Kha 2715) belonging to Helambu Yatayat was headed to Kathmandu from Sipatar of Sindhupalchok when it met with the accident.
The bus had fallen off 200 meter down after skidding off at the highway at Bhotispa.
The bus was said to be overcrowded, thus assuming it to be the main reason for the accident.
