As many as four bodies have been retrieved from debris while 12 others are still missing after a massive landslide in Bhobang of Dhorpatan-9, Baglung.
According to Police Inspector at Police Unit Office in Burtiwang, Prakash Singh Thakuri, four dead bodies have been recovered from the incident site with the help of locals this morning. However, the identity of the deceased persons has yet to be ascertained, said Thakuri.
“As many as 20 houses have been swept away and some 12 people are still missing,” he said.
The people of Bhobang believe that the number of people missing in the landslide could be much higher. Rescue teams of Nepal Police, Nepal Army and Armed Police Force along with Chief District Officer, Suresh Neupane, are on the way to the incident site.
Meanwhile, flood and landslide debris have also blocked the normal flow of Bhuji River. The residents living in the river banks downstream have been asked to stay alert as the blockage could cause potential bursts of the dam, washing away the downstream settlements.
