Bagmati Province Constructs 11 Bridges In Current FY


Construction of 11 concrete and suspension bridges has been completed in various districts under Bagmati Province.

Construction of 11 bridges including a suspension bridge has been completed by the end of May of the current FY 2020/21.

Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development of the Province organising a press conference on Friday said these bridges were constructed under the in-vestment of the Provincial government and conditional loan assistance. Half a dozen other bridges are in a process of being completed by the end of the current fiscal year, Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development Rameshwore Phuyal said.

Similarly, five dozen other bridges are under construction in various districts of the Province in the financial assistance of the provincial government, he added.

Speaking at the press meet, Minister Phuyal said that the provincial government has focused on constructing heritage and environment-friendly infra-structure development.

Minister Phuyal said by the end of May-June, 2021, three bridges had been constructed in Bhaktapur, two each in Kathmandu and Chitwan and one each in Sindhupalchowk, Dhading and Nuwakot districts. He said the provincial government was preparing to call a tender bid for the construction of the Bhimphedi-Khulekhani tunnel, which has remained as a pride project of the Province.

This tunnel project be built in the co-financing of the federal government, he informed. Likewise, the provincial government has begun a process to operate electric vehicles and its procurement process has already begun. He also claimed that the Ministry has maintained transparency to purchase electric vehicles.
