A pregnant woman has been rescued by airlifting from Sigas, Baitadi district.
Bindu Dhami, who was in labour pain in the health post located at Thalakada, Sigas Rural Municipality-6 for around 24 hours, was airlifted to Province Hospital Surkeht on Monday.
Chakra Dhami, in charge of the hospital, said that the life of one expecting mother was saved because of the President’s Women Advancement Programme (Rastrapati Mahila Utthan Karyakram). He said she was in a serious condition of having to undergo an operation.
He said,” The President’s Women Advancement Programme has proved to be a lifesaver for pregnant women who resides in the rural Sigas Rural Municipality, where there is no access to road transportation.”
Suresh Panthi, a chief district officer of Baitadi district said, “After we received news that the life of a pregnant woman in the health post was in danger because of labour pain, a helicopter of the Nepal Army came from Surkhet and rescued the woman in labour after coordinating with Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizen.”
As per the District Administration Office (DAO), Baitadi, one pregnant woman was also rescued by airlifting in the district in the previous year.
