Locals are facing hurdles to cross the Dungri Jhigine and Tuni rivers of Khaptad Chhededaha Rural Municipality-3 in the Bajura district.
The lack of a bridge over the rivers has affected the mobility of people in the area. According to locals, they need to cross these rivers frequently to reach the bazaars of Betalmandu and Sanfebagar to buy daily goods.
Locals face hassles on rainy days in a lack of bridges, said Dil Bahadur Dhami, a local of the rural municipality. “Dungri Jhigine and Tuni rivers are mostly flooded during heavy rains.
Lack of bridge over them often hinders our movements during monsoon,” said Dhami. Most of the children of Khaptad Chhededaha Rural Municipality study at Sharada Secondary School in Budhiganga Municipality-7 and it is very difficult for them to reach school by crossing the flooded rivers during the rainy season, added Dhami.
“We are seeking help from various authorities to solve the problems but no one is ready to help us,” he said.
It has been very risky to cross the river in lack of a bridge, said Chatman Sarki, a local. During the rainy season, the river overflows and it will be impossible to cross it, but in the dry season, vehicles can cross the rivers as they get dried, said Sarki. According to Birkha Rawat, chairman of the rural municipality, no authorities have paid attention to resolving the problems.
“We have been pledged help to build a bridge, but have not received assistance from any government agency,” said Rawat.
