Deputy Prime Minister Upendra Yadav said that Bheri Zonal Hospital of Nepalgunj would be upgraded to a specialized hospital of state 5.
Responding to queries of lawmakers in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, DPM Yadav said that activities are underway to upgrade Bheri Hospital into specialised hospital as per the government’s plan of establishing a specialised hospital in every state.
Also the Minister for Health and Population, DPM Yadav said that Bheri Zonal Hospital could be upgraded to a teaching hospital in future.
Different arrangements have been made for easy and smooth treatment service at Bir and Kanti and other hospitals, he added.
The Health Minister said that legal arrangement ‘One doctor, one hospital’ has been formulated and brought into practice to stop the trend of doctors of government hospitals working at different private hospitals.
He shared that out of total amount of medicine consumed in Nepal, around 40 per cent demand of medicine is fulfilled from domestic production and most of the raw materials of the medicine produced in Nepal are imported from China.
Attention of the government has been drawn towards the irregularities at Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital and action would be forwarded at coordination of the organisation operating the hospital, said DPM Yadav.
Lawmakers– Mahesh Basnet, Mahendra Raya Yadav, Prem Suwal, among others had raised queries on the occasion.
