The main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has stated that the Bill Related to Guthi which the government has introduced recently was against the spirit, aspiration and provision of the constitution and also hit the tradition as well as religious and cultural sentiments.
In a press release, the main opposition party said the bill has been brought with the intention of destroying the religion, culture and tradition and finishing off the existence of the Guthi tradition itself.
It stated that the bill could not be accepted in its present form, calling for its immediate withdrawal and seeking solution to it on the basis of agreement through meaningful dialogue with the stakeholders.
NC central office chief secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel, through the press release, protested what he called the government repression on the members of the various Guthis and the general public who were holding peaceful demonstration against the provisions of the bill on Sunday. (RSS)
