The private sector umbrella organisations have urged the government to provide vaccines to all industrialists and businessmen.
Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) urged the government to provide vaccine against COVID 19 by giving priority to the entrepreneurs, workers and employees who are directly connected with the economy.
A business delegation led by FNCCI President Shekhar Golchha Tuesday met Minister for Health and Population Sher Bahadur Tamang and demanded vaccination against the COVID-19.
It has demanded that the private sector, which is directly linked to the economy, be given priority in vaccination.
On the occasion, President Golchha stressed on the need to give priority to the private sector entrepreneurs who are working for the smooth production and distribution of consumer goods at the forefront during the prohibitory order.
He stressed on the need to accord priority to this class in the vaccination campaign to revive the economy and achieve the economic goals of the government.
FNCCI members of district, municipal chambers of commerce, commodity and associates should be vaccinated as a matter of priority, he said.
During the meeting, Minister Tamang expressed his commitment to provide vaccine against COVID to all entrepreneurs and employees working in the sector who are directly linked with the economy.
He said the government had considered the need to vaccinate all those involved in the sector to create an environment for reviving the economy, as COVID had damaged overall economy of the country.
Minister Tamang assured that he would give first priority to vaccinating the manpower directly connected with industry and business.
Meanwhile, issuing a press statement, NCC has requested to provide vaccination facility to all industrialists and businessmen as soon as possible.
Stating that the confidence of all the leading businesses has declined due to non-availability of vaccine against COVID-19 in time, the NCC has urged the government to keep their confidence high by providing vaccinations.
Only if the confidence of the private sector is boosted, it will contribute to economic development and employment growth and revenue, it said.
While most of the businesses are closed, on the other hand, due to non-availability of vaccine against COVID, it has created a challenging situation to run the industry, NCC said.
The NCC has requested the government to provide both doses of vaccination to all the grocery traders, industrialists and workers in the industry and transport sector and member associations of chamber.
