The government is launching the next phase of vaccination campaign with Pfizer vaccine from Sunday.
The Ministry of Health and Population is going to conduct the Pfizer vaccination campaign from December 19, 2021 to January 6, 2022. The inoculation campaign targets to vaccinate children of 12 to 17 years of age.
According to the ministry, the Pfizer vaccination campaign is being conducted in eight districts of Bagmati, six districts of Karnali and one district of Sudurshchim province.
Similarly, those who get the first dose will be given the second dose of Pfizer vaccine from January 18 to 27. The ministry has stated that the vaccination centres in the remaining 12 districts will be determined later.
Earlier, a Pfizer vaccination campaign was conducted in 20 districts for chronic patients above 12 years of age.
The government is securing sufficient doses of Pfizer vaccines through various channels and 664,000 doses of vaccines are scheduled to arrive on December 23 and 24, informed Dr. Surendra Chaurasia, chief of the Logistics Management Section under the Department of Health Services.
Meanwhile, according to our Baitadi correspondent, 38,000 children of Baitadi are being vaccinated against COVID-19 with Moderna vaccine from Dec 21.
According to Yogesh Prasad Bhatta, chief at District Health Office, Baitadi, 279 schools of 10 local levels of the district are designated as vaccination centres. There are 38,812 children of 12 to 17 years of age in the district. The district has received 31,640 doses of vaccines.
The vaccine coordination committee will discuss to secure required doses of vaccines, said vaccine supervisor, Harish Prasad Bhatta.
