CM Shahi Reshuffles Karnali’s Cabinet

Chief Minister of Karnali Province Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has reshuffled the provincial council of ministers.

The Cabinet was reshuffled Saturday night after Chief Minister Shahi received a vote of confidence on Friday.

CM Shahi has inducted three CPN-UML’s Province Assembly members in the cabinet. Three of the four UML Assembly members who voted Shahi crossing the floor were rewarded with ministerial posts.

CM Shahi appointed Nanda Singh Budha as the Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment, Kurmaraj Shahi as the Minister for Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives and Amar Bahadur Thapa as the Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development,  said the government spokesperson and Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning and Social Development Bimala KC.

Nanda Singh Budha had resigned from the ministry post after the CPN-UML withdrew its support to the government.

The UML Karnali Province Committee meeting had already taken action against the three Assembly members for supporting Shahi.

The UML had withdrawn its support to the CPN-Maoist Centre to dismantle the Karnali Province government to come into effect from March 18, 2021.

But again, UML’s Madhav Nepal-led group backed the Karnali government and it managed to survive the no-confidence motion.

The Nepali Congress, which has supported the Karnali government, has not yet joined the government.

Government spokesperson KC said that efforts were being made to induct Nepali Congress in the government. Minister KC said that the CM would give a complete shape to the Cabinet by including all those who supported his government.
