COVID-19: Daily update from Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population


Dr. Bikash Devkota, Speaker for the Ministry of Health and Population appeared on Facebook Live for the day’s (04/04/2020) media briefing. Here are a few updates:

Total no. of tests done (nationwide): 1441

Total no. of tests in 24 hours (nationwide): 164

Testing facilities available in:

Kathmandu, Dharan, Pokhara, Hetauda, Janakpur, Surkhet, and Dhangadhi

(Installation ongoing at Butwal and Chitwan)

No. of people in isolation: 69

Inside Valley: 15
Outside valley: 54

(On suspicion of coronavirus, tests either yet to be done, or results are awaited)

As per the mobile app and COVID-19 informational website of MOHP (covid19.mohp.gov.np)

6527 people have submitted their self-evaluation, and of them 126 have been classified under the Red Zone.

Addressing the query of people who have completed their 14 day quarantine, but do not show any symptoms, MoHP has advised them to continue their quarantine. “At times symptoms can be seen even after 14 days”, Dr. Devkota said, advising them to stay home.
